Meta-analysis of association studies on VDR ApaI polymorphism vs. risk for renal disease. Forest plot: The terms experimental and control groups correspond to cases and controls. Number of variant alleles were considered as events with respect to total number of alleles tested. This meta-analysis was based on 13 case-control studies representing 5 population groups. VDR ApaI polymorphism was shown to exert risk for renal disease only in fixed effect model, but not in random effect model.
