Model of CRC screening, in flow-diagram en decision-tree representation. The model distinguishes bi-allelic, non-bi-allelic, and colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. Bi-allelic patients have an increased age-dependent CRC rate compared to non-bi-allelic patients. Moreover, CRC patients have a higher mortality rate than non-CRC patients. Screening blocks CRC incidence. Parameters: μ = General mortality rate, μCRC = Excess CRC-mortality rate, λ = Unrelated CRC-incidence, λMUTYH = MUTYH-related CRC-incidence, R = reduction in CRC incidence due to screening (90% for colonoscopy and 11% for FOBT screening)".
