Whole-body MRI shows nearly complete fatty atrophy of the tibialis anterior muscles and the Mm. gastrocnemii, as well as moderate fatty replacement of muscle tissue in the soleus muscle (A, C). Atrophy of the dorsal upper leg muscles is pronounced in the M. semimembranosus and M. biceps femoris (B). Gluteal muscles revealed mild fatty degeneration. Additionally, fatty muscle degeneration of scapular fixators (Mm. serrati and Mm. latissimi dorsi) and axial back muscles was detected (data not shown). The pelvis and proximal upper legs were not examined as the patient had a hip implant.
